Hangzhou Pioneers AVS-based Digital Terrestrial TV Service in China

According to Chinese-language Sina News, Hangzhou Radio & Television Investment Company has initiated the commercialization of digital terrestrial TV service in Hangzhou. The service is based on two Chinese homegrown standards: the government-approved digital terrestrial TV transmission standard and AVS (Audio Video Standard), China's proprietary A/V codec. The first phase of service is projected to cover a subscriber base of 100 thousand.
